SuperDraft on tap, Metros with few picks
January 12, 2004

With the MLS SuperDraft slated for Friday, January 16th, the Metros are left with only four picks after a flurry if trades last year. They traded away their first rounder (for Eddie Gaven), second rounder (in the Nelson Akwari/Tim Regan deal), and sixth rounder (for Marco Velez, who never made the team). That leaves them with just the third, fourth and fifth round picks (26th, 36th and 46th overall), plus the third rounder they received from Dallas in the Steve Jolley/Tenywa Bonseu trade (21st overall).

However, one must remember that last year the Metros entered the draft with just one pick in the top three rounds and ended up with eight players drafted. While a similiar bounty should not be expected, nothing would surprise us at this point.
